God is Good

Psalm 100:5

"For the Lord is good. is unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation."

There is an overwhelming description of who God is in scripture. God is good.

I found over 61 scriptures that state that God is good. Here are a few of them:

2 Chronicles 30:18 he referred to God as the good Lord.

Psalms 145:9 The LORD is good to all.

Romans 2:4 God’s goodness leads to repentance.

Exodus 34:6 the LORD is abounding in goodness.

In Mark 10:18 Jesus says that there is no one good except God!

These passages of scripture tell us that the character and nature of God is seen in the fact that He is good. When God revealed Himself to Moses He said:

And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, long suffering, and abounding in goodness and truth’”

Because we know He is good we can expect goodness from him. Psalms 119:68 tells us that God is good and he does good. Out of the goodness in Him we see that He treats us good as His people. Psalms 73:1 says that God is good to His people.

Jesus tells us that every good thing we have comes from God. This is the basis that we approach God. This is what we can expect from God. It is in the core of who He is.
